“How Are You Doing These Days?”

Of course I want to know about their eyes. But before that, we talk as if I am chatting with my grandma. Most of my patients these days are ones I’ve known for years. These are the patients who come regularly for in-office treatments to prevent blindness (e.g. Anti-VEGF injections for macular degeneration). These are the patients who still come despite the risks of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

I am not on the front lines in this battle with COVID-19, but I still provide care to my patients.

We catch up. How are you getting your groceries? Are you eating well? Are you exercising? It’s a crazy time, how are you doing mentally?

Sometimes they just want to talk.

I am not on the front lines, but this is the kind of care that I can offer during this difficult time #bekind #behumble
