As a clinician in private practice, I measure success by patient outcomes (e.g. did I preserve or improve vision?), seeing patients on time, and general patient satisfaction. During every patient visit, my goal is to fix the eye problem and address all questions and concerns. I go out of my way to be accessible and easily reached if anything pops up. I don't advertise my medical practice and I don't actively seek awards or recognitions.
But when public recognition does happen, it's always a pleasant surprise. I am grateful for my patients and grateful for this award.
