Grateful to be Part of the Greenwich Medical Community

An amazing thing about working in the Greenwich/Stamford area is our close-knit medical community. I used to work in NYC and it was very difficult to get to know my medical colleagues. But here in Greenwich, I can immediately reach many local primary care doctors and specialists by text or cell phone. In turn, they can easily reach me. It also helps that we generally like each other!

I was reminded about this when I recently caught up with Dr. Elizabeth Hung, a good friend and a talented local gynecologist.

This sense of community is particularly helpful in coordinating care for our patients. Referring doctors will often text me off-hours and it’s easy for me to provide a curbside consult or schedule their patient for an emergency eye exam. The same goes for me when I need their help for my patients. And here's my advice to new doctors in a new job: make the effort to get to know your colleagues, whether you work in a large hospital or private practice. Your patients will thank you!
