Yesterday I caught up with Kyle who was my summer intern 4 years ago. Since then, he graduated college and now works at a pharmaceutical company in the finance department. Great seeing you, Kyle!
At my ophthalmology practice, I enjoy mentoring students. Not every trainee will ultimately become a doctor or nurse, but there are plenty of useful things to learn! Interns that work with me learn multitasking, communication skills and teamwork. Most importantly, I teach them how to treat every patient the same - with respect and dignity.
If you have high expectations for students, they will usually rise to the occasion and succeed.
NOTE: To take this pic, we held our breath, took off our masks, and posed quickly. Hand sanitizing occurred immediately afterwards #staysafe.
